About the Role

Leading Software company based in Central London is looking for an experienced Revenue Finance Manager to join its dynamic Finance team, in what is a varied role involving elements of both commercial finance and technical accounting.

Reporting to the Head of Finance in a Finance team of 14, the successful candidate will be qualified with solid and broad post qualified accounting experience - to include revenue recognition under IFRS15 - from the Technology / Software / IT Services sector.

The opportunity

As a the Revenue Finance Manager, you will be commercially focused and responsible for overseeing all aspects of revenue recognition, sales metrics analysis, and gross margin analytics for the group. You will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, driving revenue optimization strategies, and providing insightful guidance to key stakeholders.

What you’ll be doing

Revenue Recognition Management:

  • Develop and maintain revenue recognition policies and procedures in compliance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS15, USGAAP).
  • Review contracts and sales agreements to ensure proper recognition of revenue streams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Legal, PMO and Product, to address revenue recognition complexities and ensure alignment with business objectives and tax structuring.
  • Ensure monthly reconciliation of revenue accounting ledgers is complete and balances, both P&L and Balances Sheet.

Gross Margin Analytics for Professional Services:

  • Analyse gross margin performance for professional services engagements, pre, during and post deployment.
  • Develop and implement robust reporting and analysis tools to track gross margin trends, identify areas for improvement, and drive profitability.
  • Partner with Professional Services leadership to optimize pricing strategies, resource allocation, and project profitability.

Sales Metrics and Performance Analysis:

  • Establish and monitor key sales performance indicators (KPIs) to track the effectiveness of sales and delivery strategies and initiatives.
  • Analyse sales and delivery data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Provide regular reports and presentations to executive leadership on sales performance and forecast accuracy.
  • Monitor and Calculate sales performance and attainment for processing commission and bonus related pay.

Forecasting and Budgeting:

  • Lead the development of revenue forecasts and budgets based on historical data, market trends, and business projections.
  • Work closely with Sales and Finance teams to validate sales forecasts and align revenue targets with overall company objectives.
  • Monitor actual performance against forecasts and budgets, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions as necessary.

 Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with Sales Operations, Customer Success, and Product teams to drive cross-functional initiatives aimed at revenue growth and customer satisfaction.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to department heads, providing financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making.

Process Improvement and Compliance:

  • Continuously assess and enhance revenue accounting processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Stay abreast of regulatory changes and accounting standards updates related to revenue recognition, ensuring compliance and mitigating risks.

Team Management

  • Manage and help develop key members of the Finance team

Requirements

What you’ll bring

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA Qualified accountant with solid PQE.
  • Extensive experience in revenue accounting, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within a software or technology company.
  • In-depth knowledge of revenue recognition principles, including IFRS15, and experience applying them in a software/SaaS/IT Services environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven track record of driving process improvements and implementing best practices in revenue accounting.
  • Proficiency in financial modelling, forecasting techniques, and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Salesforce Kimble).
